FLMD RESIDENTS – Please make sure to pick up your trash gate fob for access to the dumpsters and brush pile.
Please bring only household trash, do not place construction materials, tree and yard trimmings, appliances, mattresses, furniture, hazardous, toxic or radioactive wastes or hot ashes in the containers see specific list of prohibited waste by clicking Prohibited Waste.

FLMD also provides a slash pile that is open to FLMD residents only. This service is provided for residents to drop off limbs, leaves, pine needles, and organic yard waste only (NO STUMPS OR LOGS) This area is located in the same proximity as the central trash service area explained above. Please do not leave garbage of any kind in this area; compliance with the rules will determine the continuation of this service. The slash pile is monitored.
An Ash Barrel is available for you to dispose of your hot/cold ashes from your wood stove. Please do not dispose of ashes in the dumpster.
Private trash services are allowed to collect trash in Forest Lakes however residents will continue to be billed by the District for the centralized facility.Please have your contractor provide their own disposal containers and do not let them use the centralized facilities.
NO Recycling services available in Forest Lakes. Please check with CITY OF DURANGO or County Trash & Recycling
Location & Directions
Dumpsters are located by the Operations & Maintenance at 6893 County Road 501. From the entrance of FL, take a right on 501 heading North, approximately 2 driveways up, turn left onto FLMD Shop Drive, drive past the fire station and the road will veer to to the left – the dumpsters are located to the right as you drive up to the shop area).
Brush pile is also located at 6893 CR 501, but before veering to the left you will go straight – area is marked.
